A new Police Constable (PC) has joined the team in Rutland following the departure of PC Pete Icke.

PC Edd McKinnon has joined the Rutland Police and will be working hard across Rutland South, where he will be covering villages to the south of the county, including:

  • Empingham
  • South Luffenham
  • North Luffenham
  • Edith Weston
  • Lyddington
  • Belton in Rutland
  • Ketton
  • Manton
  • and the surrounding hamlets and residential and rural areas

Although he has been with the team for long enough to settle in, he has now taken to social media to introduce himself to the local community who he will be supporting - and being a Rutland resident himself, he said that he is feeling "very lucky to have the opportunity to serve the communities that make up our truly beautiful little county."

PC McKinnon added: "I thought it high time I say hello and introduce myself as your new Dedicated Neighbourhood Officer for Rutland South.

"I'm PC Edd McKinnon and I've recently taken over from PC Pete Icke - so I'm well aware I have some very big shoes to fill!

"I have worked for Leicestershire Police for 23 years and have been a Police officer for 18 years now, the first decade working out of Spinney Hill Park in the city, and the last 8 years based at Melton Mowbray.

"As you can probably tell, Police social media is new to me but i'll do my best to keep things relevant and interesting.

"Please do get in touch with any concerns through the usual channels, and say hello if you see me out and about. PC 2157 Edd McKinnon."

You can find members of the Rutland policing team at Oakham Police Station, Station Road, Oakham, Rutland.

Alternatively get in touch with the team via Facebook or by emailing [email protected].

Residents are reminded to report emergencies by calling 999, or to call 101 if they are unsure, as the social media channels are not always monitored.
