Nominations open for awards recognising work of local volunteers

Nominations have opened for a countywide awards scheme aiming to shine a spotlight on local volunteers that go the extra mile for the area.

Lincolnshire County Council's good citizen awards initiative is now open to celebrate the "fantastic achievements" of local people.

The council is looking for individuals, including young people, pairs and groups who are a real positive force in their community.

Winners will enjoy a VIP day out at the Lincolnshire Show with a guest, as well as a framed certificate.

A council statement said: "Volunteers are a vital part of many local organisations and support groups.

"Their hard work and selflessness help to make Lincolnshire a great place to live, and their commitment is an excellent example to us all."
