The location for Oakham's new Banking Hub has been confirmed, with work on the hub expected to begin early this year.

The Banking Hub will be located at 43 High Street, the former home of Lloyds bank, and will provide a counter service operated by the Post Office.

The hub will allow customers of all major banks and building societies to carry out regular cash transactions from Monday to Friday.

This is a particularly anticipated service in the county town, where Barclays and Lloyds have closed in the last two years, and HSBC is due to close once the Banking Hub is up and running.

You can bank with any major bank every day, but in addition, Community Bankers will work on rotation, with a different bank available on each day of the week when you need to talk to a friendly face.

The schedule will be as follows:

Monday - Barclays

Tuesday - NatWest

Wednesday - Santander

Thursday - Lloyds

Friday - HSBC

Rutland and Melton MP, Alicia Kearns, said: "This is great news for our community and all those who continue to rely on cash and face-to-face banking services. I look forward to visiting it once it opens!"
