Oakham's Barclays is set to close.

According to an announcement made today, Friday 27 January 2023, Barclays will leave High Street, Oakham, and Broad Street, Stamford, on 28 April this year.

This comes after the announcement in November 2022 that the HSBC will be closing 114 branches, including those in Stamford and Oakham. Oakham's HSBC will close on 20 June 2023.

91 per cent of people using the Oakham Barclays also used the app or online banking, and only eight customers access their accounts through in branch transactions only.

In late 2022, Oakham's Barclays was vandalised.

A spokesperson for Barclays said: "When deciding whether to close this branch, we looked carefully at how it's been used and how customers are banking in other ways.

"We'll be working with the community to understand the impact of closing this branch.

"Once we've gathered feedback, we'll publish the results in a booklet called 'Branch closure feedback'."
