Oakham celebrates World Book Day with a special Junior park run, book swap and demonstration from Ryhall Library Action Group

Rutland marks World Book Day with a series of celebrations across the county.
1 in 7 children do not have books at home. World Book Day, as well as the opportunity to dress up, provides an essential part in providing children with books and access to reading materials that they might not otherwise have.
World Book Day was celebrated across the county on Thursday 6th March, with further celebrations taking place over the weekend.
Ryhall Library
As part of the ongoing fight to protect Ryhall Library from potential closure, representatives from the 'Save Ryhall Library' group raised a special flag.
The action group were joined by pupils from local schools and were helped by student Delphi to mark this occassion.
The group has worked with its Parish Council to write formal responses to RCC's Ryhall Library consultation, which ended on 28th February. The next decision-making could be at the next Cabinet meeting on 8th April where they hope to lobby Councillors.
