An Oakham based couple have set up their own teepee sleepover business.

Inspired by the rising demand for the service, and a daughter who loves sleepovers, Claire and Neil Champion "wanted to have a business that was fun and made people happy."

Claire is an ex-dental nurse turned holistic therapist whilst Neil works in IT and has done for the last 21 years.

The new business, 'Sleepy Moon Teepees' will operate in addition to their current occupations as the hours can fit around their day jobs.

'Sleepy Moon Teepees' hires out indoor tents for children to have sleepovers based on themes. They also offer a range of accessories to accompany the tents such as inflatable beds, tea-lights, breakfast trays and LED lights.

Mrs Champion said: "We are the only supplier of these kinds of tents based in Rutland and certainly the only one with a moon and stars theme. We offer the option of a doorstep drop off service or we can go into people's houses and set up for them."

As with any fledgling business there have been a few small setbacks to overcome.

Mrs Champion continued: "The main challenges that we faced were getting the website set up and supplier issues. We had to wait far longer than anticipated for our signature printed tent covers due to faults with the material first time and the ink bleeding the second time round. Our supplier then changed print supplier and was finally able to supply us with what we ordered. We just had to be patient and keep communicating with our supplier.

"Our strapline is 'Amazing sleepovers for children' so if any parents want to organise a sleepover for their children for a birthday party or any other occasion then please get in touch by visiting our website ."
