Oakham designer menswear store extends its stay

A designer menswear shop that opened recently in Rutland is to extend its stay after a successful launch.

The pop up designer shop opened in High Street, Oakham, in October for an initial eight weeks.

But now, it is to stay at least until Christmas, with late night Thursday openings planned for November.

As Nub News previously reported, the store focusses on the Brooks Brothers brand.

Brooks Brothers is a long established and upmarket clothing retailer in the US and, more recently, the UK And Europe. Their famous shirts and suits have a wonderful reputation for quality and style.

The business ran into financial difficulties, and Rutland businessman, Gerry Solomons, was fortunate to obtain access to a large range of perfect clothing and shirts.

The shop is selling most of the range at discounts of up to 80% and some additional ranges are discounted even further!

Right now there is a very special offer on a beautiful dark coloured 2 piece suit, normally £790 reduced initially to £175 but for the next 2 weeks or as long as the stock lasts, £99.99!

The shirts are wonderful quality, but at an original price of £120 to £220, too expensive for many of us. Right now, you can buy one of these beautiful shirts for just £35 or 3 for £90.

Gerry, originally from London, settled in Oakham back in 1975, he married in 1976 and made

Rutland his adopted home for him and his family.

He initially set up a small business selling men's ties which grew to a large business, employing more than 60 local people full time and a similar number of outworkers.

By 1985 the business had the premises and the employment pool locally and a state-of-the-art dedicated production unit in Corby was built. The tie manufacturing business grew to be one the largest and most successful in the U.K.

Gerry went on to develop a small Estate of Commercial properties, many of which are in Rutland including the former anchor premises of Furley & Hassan, on High Street.

This was converted into the 3 ground floor shops that currently are located there, a quality restaurant on the first floor. And some serviced offices on the top floor.

Designer Menswear is managed by Tim Rhys-Williams and a Rutlander himself.

Tim said, 'we are really excited to have this wonderful range of high quality suits, jackets, shirts and chinos available in Oakham and Rutland, and I know the local people love a bargain when they see one!'

Designer Menswear have a booking system on their social media site, Facebook, should customers wish to book a fitting on-line.

Tim said: "We are looking forward to meeting the locals and visitors to the town and helping them find a high quality outfit at brilliant price!"

Designer Menswear can be found on the corner of Burley Road and High Street in Oakham
