Today, Friday 10 March 2023, the Leicestershire Fire and Rescue team based in Oakham have urged drivers to avoid travelling if possible.

The Oakham Rescue workers have asked that people avoid using roads where possible, as stranded and broken down cars are making it more challenging for them to get through to genuine emergencies.

They shared: "Please do not try and drive in these conditions!

"We have received multiple calls. Getting through stationary cars is making it a lot harder for us.

"Please stay safe!"

Hear from the team in a video shared by the team this morning, Friday 10 March 2023:
