The Oakham in Bloom quiz has been cancelled due to unforeseen circumstances.

After the group rearranged their annual quiz night to avoid clashing with the 2023 Rugby World Cup Final, the event has now been cancelled.

The popular annual event, which takes place every October to raise funds for the volunteer gardening group, will no longer take place this weekend.

This is the first year that the annual event hasn't gone forward since Covid.

Oakham in Bloom, founded by Joyce Lucas and Richard Adams, is a horticultural group involved in many projects around the town all year round, in which volunteers plant baskets and containers and beds, as well as embracing bigger challenges such as maintaining the bypass roundabouts.

Their work is funded by generous sponsors, donations and lottery as, although they work on improving public land, the group gets no financial support from the local councils.

You can support them by volunteering, donating or joining in with any events run by the group to help raise funds.

For now, there are a host of other local events, fundraisers and more going on across Rutland. Head to our What's On page to find out more.
