Volunteers at Oakham in Bloom (OiB) have rearranged their annual quiz night to avoid clashing with the 2023 Rugby World Cup Final.

The popular annual event, which take place every October to raise funds for the volunteer gardening group, will no longer take place on 28 October due to a clash with the Rugby World Cup Final.

Instead, the event will take place on 18 November.

Starting at 7pm, attendees are in for a fun evening of general knowledge, great company and a fish and chip dinner, all included in the ticket price of £12.50.

Funds raised will go towards buying tools, bulbs and other equipment to allow the volunteer team of gardeners to continue planting and maintaining boxes, hanging baskets, flower borders and roundabout displays across Oakham.

Oakham in Bloom, founded by Joyce Lucas and Richard Adams, is a horticultural group involved in many projects around the town all year round, in which volunteers plant baskets and containers and beds, as well as embracing bigger challenges such as maintaining the bypass roundabouts.

Their work is funded by generous sponsors, donations and lottery as, although they work on improving public land, the group gets no financial support from the local councils.

As such, events like these are essential for the continued success of the group - that are upping their game following a productive and promising AGM last month, in which the team vowed to return Oakham's floral displays to their former glory.

You can support them by volunteering, donating or joining in with the upcoming community quiz night to help raise funds.

To find out more, get in touch with the group or browse their recent projects through their website or on their Facebook page. The quiz will take place at Oakham's All Saints' Church Hall on 18 November from 7pm.
