McDonald's has revealed the opening date for its new restaurant in Oakham.

The fast food giant is also seeking a 'special member of the community' to be recognised and open the drive-thru on lands End way and Hackamore way,

Earlier this week, the company posted on social media that the opening date was just three weeks away, giving the opening date as Wednesday November 4.

Their statement said: "We are looking for a special member of the community that deserves to be recognised. Do you know any one that that deserves the chance to co-open the restaurant along side other local dignitaries?

"We would like the local community to nominate their hometown hero who has shown commitment and passion for Oakham.

"Please send any nominations and reasoning behind the nomination to the Facebook page and we will announce the winner on 28th October.

"The winner will also receive a complimentary meal on opening day and their name on the commemorative plaque inside the restaurant.

"The winner must be available on the morning of Wednesday 4th November."

As Nub News previously reported, some 65 jobs will be created in what will be the first McDonald's in England's smallest county.
