De Merke Estates are holding a public consultation on the 11th of May 2022 concerning their emerging plans for "new homes and community facilities" in Barleythorpe, Oakham.

The site is located to the west of the B640, north of Oakham Football Club and The Kings Centre.

An early draft masterplan has been prepared for the site which sets out how new homes could be delivered alongside the potential for a new primary school or other community facilities, public open spaces, and associated infrastructure.

De Merke Estates have said: "We are pleased to invite you to take part and have your say on our emerging proposals. The purpose of the public consultation is to gather local views to inform the submission of a planning application to Rutland County Council."

They are hosting a public consultation at The Rutland Suite, Victoria Hall on the 11th of May from 2pm until 8pm.

At the event residents will be able to view the proposals, speak with members of the team and provide input and feedback.

This comes as the Oakham and Barleythorpe Neighbourhood Plan referendum looms.

This referendum is set to take place on the 26th of May 2022 and, according to Rutland County Council: "settles a vision for the future of a neighbourhood, parish, or town and sets out how this vision will be realised through planning and development. The document must reflect the views of the residents of the Plan Area."

Will you be heading down to Victoria Hall to share your thoughts with the De Merke team?
