Pupils from an Oakham primary school have celebrated success at the UK Mathematics Trust Junior Mathematical Challenge.

18 children from Oakham's English Martyrs Catholic Voluntary Academy took part in the UKMT Junior Mathematical Challenge.

The team came away with an impressive 1 Gold, 2 Silver and 4 Bronze awards, despite the fact that the paper was designed for secondary school pupils.

The tricky test could not stop this vibrant group from success though.

A spokesperson for the school said: "Well done to 18 of our children who took part in the UKMT Junior Maths Challenge. We achieved some impressive results considering the paper was designed for secondary school pupils. Overall, we got 1 Gold, 2 Silver and 4 Bronze awards.

"Congratulations to everyone involved!"
