Oakham RFC has announced that it will hold a minute's silence before Friday night's game in memory of former junior player Alex Waycot.

The club was among those leading the tributes after hearing of Alex's sudden death, aged 21. He played at junior level with Oakham, joining the Under 10s and going on to help them win four county cups in consecutive seasons.

He was also a well-loved member of Stamford College RFC and most recently Stamford College Old Boys RFC.

Oakham take on Stoneygate in their first pre-season match of the 2019/20 season this Friday and officials have decided that a minute's silence will take place before kick-off to remember their former teammate.

Kick off is at 7.30pm and the bar will be open from 6.30pm for those who knew Alex to get together and have a drink in his memory.
