Oakham will welcome the Rutland Food & Drink Festival this weekend, and a number of local roads will be closed during the event.

The popular festival, which is organised by Carolyn Acton-Reed, is heading back to Oakham Market Place, Castle and the surrounding areas on Sunday 24 March.

The festival will take place from 11am until 4pm, and will welcome a range of local suppliers, producers, street food stalls and much more.

There will be no parking at Oakham Castle for the event, as the local attraction will be hosting stalls. Oakham Market Place will also be closed to drivers, with no parking available during the day.

Event organisers shared: "The High Street from Station Street to Mill Street Roundabout, including Market Street and Market Place, will be closed from 7am to 6pm.

"Please note that there will be no parking available on these streets starting from 7am on Sunday morning. Plan your day accordingly."

There will be free parking in council car parks as a part of the event, and entry is free and dogs are welcome.

An Easter Egg Hunt will also be taking place for local children to participate in.

Organiser, Carolyn Acton-Reed, shared: "Signs are up for Sunday's Rutland Food and Drink Festival.

Stalls will be inside Oakham Castle, in the Castle Grounds, in the Market Place and on the High Street. Hope to see you there."

The festival has been a popular bi-annual event for over five years in the county now, and sees locals flocking to enjoy street food, artisan alcohol, cheeses, bread, specialist and 'free-from' goods, as well as crafts and entertainment in the county town of Rutland.

Residents and visitors can also embrace the opportunity to explore Oakham Castle at the event, which will be open and hosting stalls and shoppers all day.
