Oakham Rugby Football Club (ORFC) are getting ready to face old rivals, Stamford, at a much-anticipated match this Saturday, 25 February 2023.

This long-anticipated face-off comes after the game was postponed on 17 December 2022 due to freezing conditions and hard ground.

The match will be taking place at the Stamford ground, Hambleton Road, Stamford, PE9 2RZ, at 2:15pm, with pre game drinks and food available to pre book.

In the penultimate away game of the season, the neighbouring teams will face off in what is set to be a competitive afternoon of good local sport

ORFC President, Chris Burton, said: "We always look forward to the Stamford fixture both home and away as it is always a healthy local rivalry played in great spirit. Stamford won the fixture at Oakham earlier in the season which was their first victory over Oakham both home and away for a couple of seasons so they will be confident of continuing their recent good form.

"However, Oakham will be looking to redress the balance of the earlier reverse to give their season a boost going into the new year. Whatever the result I'm sure that a large enthusiastic crowd will enjoy an entertaining and competitive game."

As the league table stands, Oakham are at number 9, while Stamford sit at number 5 - so it might well be a tough one for Oakham, but the local team certainly have a point to prove!

Stamford club house will also play host to screenings of the Six Nations matches this weekend. Alternatively, see where in Oakham you can catch the international fixtures here.
