Speaking in Parliament in mid-February, Rutland and Melton MP Alicia Kearns spoke out against the 'world status' give to Putin amid fears of Russian invading Ukraine.

Kearns said: "Putin has achieved much in the last few weeks. We have given him the world status that he's been craving. America, France, England, all going to his call. Going to Moscow to be called equal to him on the world stage."

She added: "But also, we've given tacit agreement to him that those boarders he's already occupied are now his to keep. Just don't go any further, was say. That is not enough."

This commentary from Kearns took place after Boris Johnson visited Kiyv, Ukraine to discuss the volatile situation with Russia.

Since then Moscow have proceeded to order troops into Luhansk and Donetsk, identifying them as independent states. These troops will be 'peacekeeping" according to Russia.

However, NATO Secretary General, Jen Stolenberg, has said that Russia have moved from "covert attempts to destabilize Ukraine to overt military action."

Today Kearns has urged Boris Johnson to "blacklist Russian banks" in an attempt to "rid our nation of Putin's dirty money because of his acts overnight and those lives already lost."
