Oakham School has praised the "determination and dedication" of staff and students as it released details of this year's GCSE results today.

This follows the A-level, BTEC and Pre-U results which were announced on Tuesday, as previously reported by Nub News.

The school says in what has been a tumultuous few months for schools across the United Kingdom, with a very different process in place of public examinations, it is pleased that we can pause to celebrate the positive and well-deserved results for our Form 5 pupils.

The school posted on its website that it is delighted to see 28% of Oakham's grades awarded grade 9; over 65% awarded grade 9-7 (A*-A) and nearly 100% awarded grade 9-4 (A*-C).

Dr Dudin, Deputy Head Academic, commented; "It is wonderful to see so many individual successes across our broad range of subjects, and I commend the determination and dedication of pupils and colleagues."

Henry Price, Headmaster said: "Even though there have been no examinations in the traditional sense, the hard work of this year group warrants recognition and endorsement.

"I congratulate every single pupil, not only on their results, but also for their resilience, determination and good sense during an unsettling 18 months. I hope that they can now look forward to returning to School and beginning the next leg of their academic journey.

"The Sixth Form presents something of a fresh start for pupils in any school, and there is a huge amount to look forward to in the Upper School at Oakham; new courses, new opportunities and new friendships as we welcome 66 new pupils to join this year group."

Henry continued: "I am incredibly grateful to the teaching staff for their care, commitment and hard work, and to our parents, who have shown unfailing support for their children and the School".
