Rutland and Lincolnshire stone specialists, Stamford Stone, took a team trip to Scotland, climbed Ben Nevis and raised over £8,318 (£9,540 with Gift Aid) for a local charity.

The impressive feat, completed by 20 colleagues, included an 22-hour round coach trip and 9 hours of walking, climbing and not to mention numerous blisters, slips and knee injuries!

The team chose to climb Ben Nevis, Britain's highest mountain in order to raise funds for Sue Ryder Thorpe Hall Hospice in Peterborough, a charity they've been supporting for the last four years.

Stamford Stone Director Laura Green said: "I am so proud of the whole team. It was a challenging climb of over 1,345m… more challenging than any of us anticipated, but to reach the summit as a team knowing we had beaten our original fundraising target was an exhilarating experience, "

"We've smashed our original targeted fundraising amount of £5,000, thanks to the incredible 296 supporters made up of friends, family, customers and suppliers who have contributed to our team's amazing fundraising effort.

"So far we've completed the Prudential Ride London Event in 2018 and the Peterborough Dragon Boat Race in 2019 - all for Sue Ryder. I'm already inundated with ideas for next year's challenge... from the 3 Peaks to Kilimanjaro! – watch this space!"
