Oakham Town Council to host Annual Town Meeting and elect Chairman next week

Oakham Town Council will host the Annual Town Meeting and elect a Chairman next week.

On Tuesday and Wednesday next week, Oakham Town Council will welcome members of the public to have their say as well as electing their Chairman or Mayor for the year, the Vice Chairman and appoint working groups and standing committees.

The Annual Town Meeting will take place on Tuesday 7 May 2024 at 6pm.

Current Mayor, Cllr Sally-Anne Wadsworth, will chair this meeting, beginning with opening remarks. Following this, members of the public will have their chance to speak at the public forum.

The Annual Meeting of the Town Council will take place on Wednesday 8 May 2024 at 6:30pm.

As well as electing the Chair, Vice Chair and allocating roles within the council, councillors are also asked to resolve representation of the council in the following outside organisations: 

  • Citizens Advice
  • Oakham in Bloom
  • Trustees of the Memorial institute
  • Armed Forces Champion
  • Tree Champion
  • Town Cryer
  • Grounds Maintenance Champion
  • Parish Council Forum
  • Twinning Representatives

Councillors are also asked to approve the schedule of meetings for the 2024-2025 year and to approve the chairman's allowance of £2,000 for the forthcoming year.

In addition, councillors will be asked to consider and approve the bank statements for April 2024:

18.1 Rialtas bank reconciliation

18.2 HSBC Current account 

18.3 HSBC Deposit account 

18.4 Cambridge Savings account

Both meetings are open to the public.
