Catch the start of the Six Nations, enjoy the first local craft fair of the year, or pop down to All Saints' Church to sing and find out more about the local community this week in Oakham.

  1. Arts & Craft Market
On Saturday the 5th of February, Gaol Street will welcome Oakham's first Arts & Craft Fair of the year! Organised by 4Oakham, this wonderfully community focussed event will see local creatives and business owners selling a great range of home and handmade gifts and goods. On sale there will be:

Art

Homewares

Gifts

Food

Clothes

Candles

Children's Books

Jewellery… and more! Pop down to Gaol Street between 9am and 3pm to support these small, independent businesses and keep the Oakham community spirit thriving.
  1. Evensong
On Sunday the 6th of February at 6pm, All Saints' Church in Oakham will see local people gathering to sing hymns and come together as a community. This service runs for 50 minutes. All are welcome to attend and enjoy a reflective end to a Sunday and a spiritual resource for the coming week. See you there!
  1. Six Nations screenings
For the sports fans out there, the rugby Six Nations begins on Saturday the 5th of February and an array of local pubs will be screening the matches from this weekend through until mid-March. The first game on Saturday the 5th of February will be Ireland V Wales at 14:15. Next up is Scotland V England on the same day at 16:45. On Sunday, the action continues with France V Italy at 15:00. A few local pubs will be screening the event. One local gem is The Grainstore Brewery, who serve great food and local beers to boot. Head down early to grab a bite to eat before the game, but make sure you book as this pub is a popular local spot! Another fantastic pub to catch the games at is The Crown Tavern based in Crown Walk in the centre of town. Here, the love for the glorious game is high, and the range of screenings is huge – Oakham's best sports bar! You'll definitely need to book a table here. To do so, call Lindsay on 07769 680641. Finally, we have Bill's Bar, where Guinness will only be £2.50 a pint during every Six Nations match.
