Around 6 million disabled people in the UK will receive a one-off £150 disability Cost of Living payment from the 20th of September 2022, the government has recently confirmed.

Those being paid a qualifying disability benefit will be paid automatically with the vast majority of those eligible expected to receive their one-off payment within a couple of weeks and by the beginning of October.

For those disabled people on low-incomes, this payment comes in addition to other cost-of-living payments totalling £650. All households will receive £400 to help with energy bills, with an extra £150 being provided for properties in Council Tax bands A-D in England.

Leader of Rutland County Council, Cllr Lucy Stephenson, said: "As we move into the colder months, the cost-of-living crisis is sure to have an impact on everyone, so it is welcome news that those on low income due to disability will receive some help to aide them through these unprecedented times.

"Rutland County Council is committed to supporting all residents through this crisis and we will be further promoting and encouraging those in need to take advantage of what we already offer by way of support. We will also continue to work closely with partners to establish what more we can do to help through these particularly difficult times."

Full details relating to the one-off disability payment can be found on Government website.
