RUTLAnd Police have used social media to highlight how a rogue driver was brought to justice.

A post from the force tells how Jasbir Singh Bharaj of Leicester was stopped in June in his car on Church Street, Oakham at around midnight after his erratic driving caught the attention of a local response officer.

It says: "Aggressive from the outset, it wasn't long before Bharaj found himself in handcuffs and under arrest on suspicion of drink driving. He was shouting and swearing in the street causing significant disturbance to local residents and made a number of threats to the officer.

"Bharaj then threatened to defecate in the police car so the officer promptly removed him from the vehicle at which point the officer was assaulted.

"Bharaj was later charged with failing to provide a specimen of breath, public order and assaulting an emergency worker.

"He received a suspended prison sentence and a three year driving ban. The judge also ordered him to pay compensation and attended an alcohol rehabilitation course."
