By Grace Kennington 6th Jul 2026
In Rutland Police's monthly newsletter, the force has identified key areas that their neighbourhood team in focussing on, following feedback from surveys and community consultations, as well as current crime trends.
One of the key topics identified was the increase in anti-social behaviour in and around Oakham and Barleythorpe.
According to Rutland Police, during June, officers 'worked alongside Community Safety and the Safer Streets Team to tackle anti-social behaviour in identified hotspots.
'Through joint patrols, engagement with residents and local businesses, and targeted interventions, we have identified several perpetrators, issued advice and warnings where appropriate, and issued a Section 59 warning for the anti-social use of a vehicle.'
The police have been working closely with local residents and partner agencies to tackle anti-social behaviour, as well as increasing community engagement and patrols in the area.
According to PCOS Lauren, 'We will continue to monitor the area and encourage residents to report any ongoing issues so that we can keep our communities safe and enjoyable for everyone.'
The next beat surgery for Oakham and Barleythorpe will be taking place at Oakham Castle on 27 July, where local people can have the chance to meet the neighbourhood policing team and raise any concerns.
