Discount retailer QD Quality Discounts is to create 21 new jobs when its new store opens in Oakham next month.

The store will occupy former Fords of Oakham's Church Street premises and will feature products for the home, pets, furniture, clothing, food and more – all at discounted prices.

The new store will open on Thursday, 7 November in time to showcase the company's Christmas range.

QD is currently actively recruiting 21 full and part-time sales assistants, supervisors and managers from the local area.

Chris Meale, store operations manager at QD, said: "We are really looking forward to opening up in Oakham and to moving into the old Fords of Oakham premises.

"As the oldest department store in Rutland, Fords was a well-respected business and we are proud to be picking up the mantle from them.

"Like Fords, we are also a family owned local business, our administration office and senior directors being based nearby in Nottingham."

"We firmly believe Oakham's shoppers will love our fantastic range of products at everyday great value prices guaranteed.

"Our amazing new Christmas range will also be available from when we open and this will be a real showstopper!

"We can't wait to welcome both our new customers and our new staff to the store."

QD is part of the QD Group, an independent, family-owned chain of high street value retail outlets. There are currently 26 QD Stores across the country.

The original concept of QD's quality discounted retailing was first established in 1985 by the company's CEO Nick Rubins' father, and current Chairman, Danny Rubins. The aim was to offer customers a wide range of constantly changing, quality products at discounted prices.

Nick Rubins, QD Group CEO said: "We are delighted to be opening a new store in Oakham and employing local staff.

"QD has been a family-run business for over 30 years and we look forward to continuing this ethos in our Oakham store.

"We are looking forward to opening our doors next month and showing our new customers our fantastic value, excellent quality and ever-changing spectacular new deals!"
