The Rutland 1 bus service between Oakham and Uppingham is back today, Friday 5 January, with diversions in place.

The service did not run between Oakham and Uppingham yesterday, but will be running with diversions until the Manton Bridge stretch of road reopens. It is currently unclear when this will be.

Due to road closures caused by flooding on the A6003 at Manton Bridge the bus service will be following diversions.

There is no news yet on when the Manton Bridge road will be open, while the A606 through Whitwell reopened yesterday, allowing the route to reopen, with minor changes.

The team at Bland's coach and bus service, who run the R1 route, said: "Manton Bridge remains closed but the A606 at Whitwell now open so our intention is to divert the R1s via A606 Empingham/ Edith Weston. We should be able to service all villages but anticipate some delays to the timetable as we’re going the wrong way round. All other services should now run as usual with minor delays. Thank you."
