Rail users have been encouraged to check train times before they travel this Christmas, as no trains will be running on Christmas Day or Boxing Day, and some journeys in neighbouring Corby, Kettering and Peterborough will be cut short heading into the New Year.

East Midlands Railway (EMR) is urging customers to double check their journey details when they plan their trips over the festive period.

As normal, EMR will not run any services on Christmas Day and Boxing Day. While on other days around Christmas and New Year there will be changes to the time of the start and end of services - with some final services of the day stopping a lot earlier than normal.

Dave Meredith, Customer Services Director at East Midlands Railway, said: "We look forward to welcoming customers over the festive period as they use our services to visit family and friends.

"Any customers planning to travel with us over this period are advised to double check the timings of services. There are a number of changes to start up and finish times, plus other amendments to the normal timetable on some days."

A full list of timetables can be found on EMR's website here: Christmas and New Year travel advice | EMR (eastmidlandsrailway.co.uk)
