A reckless Oakham driver who led police on a high-speed chase admitted "I'm a f***ing idiot" after being given a stern dressing down by a fuming police officer.

Finn Weston, 20, was arrested after hitting speeds of 70mph in 30mph zones in his silver Ford Focus in Sleaford, on September 13.

Body-cam footage shows an angry officer branding Weston an "absolute idiot" and telling him "I don't want to hear your sorries."

The officer shouts: "You absolute idiot, na I don't want to hear your sorries mate, absolute idiot, the amount of people you could have killed then.

"Especially going through the 30's, for what reason?"

Weston replies: "Because I'm a f***ing idiot."

The officer replies: "Well we've gathered that haven't we."

Police had spotted Weston driving on the A153 in Sleaford at around 4pm but he ignored a request to stop.

Dramatic dash-cam captured him speeding through built-up areas and along country roads for the next ten miles.

He can be seen dangerously overtaking and forcing other motorists to take evasive action as the chase continued.

He was arrested when his vehicle stopped working and he was pulled over in a layby near Tumby, Lincs.

Weston was charged with dangerous driving, driving while disqualified, possession of drugs, failing to stop and driving without insurance.

Weston, of Oakham, Rutland, pleaded guilty at Lincoln Magistrates Court on September 15.

He narrowly avoided jail after being sentenced to 14 months' detention in a Young Offender Institution, suspended for 18 months at Lincoln Crown Court on Thursday (29/10).

He was also disqualified from driving for three years and he must pass an extended test and pay a surcharge of £187.
