The Magical Lantern Walk is returning to Oakham on Saturday 8 November, with a lantern making workshop taking place at Oakham Castle on Saturday 1 November.
Root-and-Branch-Out, a community interest organisation based in Rutland, work to engage local people in projects focussed on food, the outdoors, nature and the environment.

They have held their annual Magical Lantern Walk every year since 2018 (except 2020 due to the Covid-19 pandemic) and is based on Saint Martin's Day celebrations where children traditionally walk from the town's church to town square in a procession lit by lanterns.
The Lantern Walk celebrates the changing of the season and hopes to bring together the community by walking together.

There will be an opportunity for locals to make their own lanterns at a session at Oakham Castle on Saturday 1 November from 11am to 1pm. This year's theme is lanterns that take two or more people to carry high up in the air.
This popular local event is a beautiful display of community, as well as a magical, memory-making experience for Rutland's children.
Find out more about this event by visiting the Root-and-Branch-Out website.
