Alicia Kearns, MP for Rutland and Melton, has launched a new campaign to install a ticket machine at Oakham train station.

Following the closure of almost all of England's rail ticket offices earlier this year, the Conservative MP is launching a campaign for a new ticket machine at Oakham station.

Ms Kearns is calling for residents to add their name to her petition online, which will be presented to East Midlands Railway.

Alicia Kearns, Member of Parliament for Rutland and Melton said: "Oakham is the only train station in Rutland, and it is wrong that we don't have a single ticket machine.

"With the consultation on the closure of manned railway ticket offices ongoing, we must ensure that those who cannot use contactless or mobile tickets are not excluded from accessing this vital service.

"I would encourage everyone who feels as strongly as I do about this to sign my petition on my website, which I will present to our local rail companies."

Alicia has recently written to the Managing Director of East Midlands Railway to highlight her concerns about the train operator's proposals to close the ticket office at Oakham Railway Station.

She has also responded to The Passenger Watchdog Transport Focus public consultation with her concerns, and calls on everyone to reply to that consultation urgently.

Alternatively, have you say on the national customer service consultation hosted by the rail companies here until 1 September 2023.
