Alicia Kearns, MP for Rutland and Melton, has wished her constituents a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year ahead of the festivities, sharing a card designed by a local child.

Every year, the Conservative MP holds a Christmas card competition involving local primary school pupils.

Hundreds of children across the area entered, and a child from a Melton school was crowned the winner.

Marcus, who is in Year 4 at English Martyrs Catholic Voluntary Academy designed a card picturing Santa's house surrounding by festive decoration, including a snow man, Christmas tree and candy cane.

The design features on the front of the card, which was sent out by Ms Kearns this week.

She said: "Wishing you all a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!

"All my best to you and yours across this festive season."
