Local radio station Rutland & Stamford Sound has joined Lottery SK, the weekly lottery set up by South Kesteven District Council to raise funds for local groups and communities in the local area.

At least 60% of the ticket price will be going to support good causes, including Rutland & Stamford Sound themselves.

Rutland & Stamford Sound is an independent Community Radio Station for the Rutland and Stamford area, led by Rob Persani with wide ranging volunteer support. The station is governed by an independent Community Interest Company (Rutland and Stamford Sound CIC). The Board and management team are all volunteers, local people with business, broadcasting and community experience.

As such, this team-up is both great for the station, and will enable the lottery to reach a wider audience, promoting further fundraising for other local and community-led groups.

Tickets for the lottery cost £1 and players can choose who they would like to support when they play. There is a weekly prize draw with a jackpot of £25,000 as well as the chance to win extra goodies such as the current prize of a £1,000 bike voucher.

Station Manager, Rob Persani, said: "We joined the LotterySK scheme as Rutland and Stamford Sound is a not-for-profit community radio station. Our purpose is to improve wellbeing by making people feel more connected with the local area. The station has a full-time Station Manager with all other presenter and back office roles filled by volunteers."

Rutland and Stamford Sound is currently available on smart speakers, on mobile phone apps and online. On a daily basis the team feature interviews with local community organisations, charities and schools.

Local news is broadcast every hour and the team of volunteers broadcast 24 hours a day. Community groups and not-for-profit organisations can also take advantage of a free shout out on-air.

Rob concluded: "As a community station, we need your help so we can continue to offer our service and to expand in the future."

Players can go to the Rutland and Stamford Sound LotterySK page either by going to the Rutland & Stamford Sound website or the LotterySK page.
