Manky Beds, a 4-piece Rutland-based rock band, are getting ready to celebrate their 10th birthday in style.
On 20 June 2013, Manky Beds was officially formed, and the group have been making music and performing in local bars and pubs ever since, entertaining Rutlanders and visitors with their covers of classics from the likes of Oasis, the Beatles, REM, Snow Patrol, The Kinks and many more.
Their unusual band name comes from the birth homes of 2 of the lads - Paul is from Manchester and Mark from Bedford. They chanced a go at a duet on a drunken Thursday evening in a Cambridgeshire pub, and their decade-long journey began.
In a happy turn of events, Paul and Mark both relocated to Rutland and continued making music together. With the addition of Gary and Miles, they now operate as a 4-piece rock band playing in the surrounding area.
They have a few gigs on the horizon in Oakham and Rutland this season, one being the Lord-Lieutenant and Oakham Town Council's Party in the Park, and the other the iconic fundraising day festival, Extonbury.
The band said: "10 years ago MankyBeds was formed.
"To celebrate we are releasing the live tracks performed at Extonbury Festival last summer. The album "It's never perfect" will be available on Spotify from 1 July."
Extonbury is set to take place on 1 July, the day of their new release, and tickets are still available, so head on down and support the band.
