Rutland community gardening scheme to host open day
Rutland residents can find out more about a community gardening scheme at an upcoming open day.
Growers Row, located at Rutland Showground, is a community gardening space hosted by Root-and-Branch-Out, a local organisation that champions food, nature and the environment.
The established gardening scheme sees local people come together to cultivate a thriving and productive space open to the whole community.
Later this month, the team are hosting an open day to showcase their hard work, and to invite prospective members to see what they could get out of the community scheme.
Three years ago, Growers Row was just an empty field, and now it is a thriving and productive garden for the whole community.
The team said: "Join us at Growers Row on Wednesday 24 July for the second annual open day!
"We are hosting an open day, which is your chance to visit this vibrant and productive garden for the whole community. Come and look at the accessible garden beds and the orchard with its rescued trees, walk around the Wildflower River, visit 'Stickby upon Nettles', the children's play area, and see where we run workshops and keep warm through the winter months.
"We look forward to welcoming you to the garden."
