Rutland Council gives guidance in weather update

Schools are closed and roads are suffering from ice and snow, following yesterday's wintry weather.

Rutland Police have also warned people to stay at home due to the conditions, as well as the national lockdown.

Rutland County Council has published an update of how services have been affected.

It lists school closures, disruptions to waste services, and related matters.

The council advised people to stay at home, but it did say crews were gritting the roads and also clearing pavements in Oakham and Uppingham.

It added on social media this morning: "Road surface temperatures fell well below freezing last night so conditions are still hazardous in places. Crews are also out clearing town centre footpaths this morning. Please take care if you must go out.

"Gritters fitted with ploughs have been working round the clock to clear roads. All of our priority routes have been treated and re-treated several times overnight."
