Rutland Council increases security following sexual assault

Security has been upped at Rutland County Council following a reported sexual assault, at the cost of 14,000 a month.
Security guards have been installed at the Catmos headquarters following the incident last month on August 18.
Benedict Azam, 34, of no fixed address has been charged with the alleged offence along with two others assaults, that Leicestershire Police have said occurred in Oakham's high street the same day and another at Burley Road, the day before.
He will appear before the Leicester Crown Court on October 6 where he is expected to enter a plea.
A spokesperson for the authority said: "The security guard costs are £14 per month and provisions are in place for a period of three months while we review our long-term security arrangements."
Under the new security arrangements, members of the public have to wait for a security guard to allow them entry to the premises.
The authority has plans to move out of the headquarters in the coming years and for staff to be relocated to new premises at Oakham Enterprise Park. A new council chamber could form part of the new museum complex being designed to house the large icthyosaurus found at Rutland Water, although nothing has been finalised as yet and the authority is still looking for the final chunk of funding.
