Rutland Council reassure 747 bus users amid service review
Rutland County Council is seeking to reassure residents who may be concerned at news that Leicestershire County Council is reviewing its 747 bus service.
Leicestershire County Council recently announced plans to review a number of bus routes across their area, including the Centrebus 747 service that connects Uppingham and Leicester.
The 747 bus has been jointly subsidised by Rutland County Council and Leicestershire County Council since 2016. Discussions will take place between the two local authorities in the coming weeks, as part of Leicestershire County Council's review.
Conservative Councillor, Rosemary Powell, Cabinet Member for Transport at Rutland County Council, said: "We understand the pressure that Leicestershire County Council is under as it begins the process of looking at these bus routes. We also recognise how important the 747 bus is to passengers and, particularly, Uppingham residents. This is why we've been subsidising the route for several years and why we are keen to work positively with Leicestershire as part of their review."
