Rutland County Council will support World Suicide Prevention Day, the international campaign which aims to start a conversation around suicide.

The campaign, which is held every year on the 10th of September and is led by the International Association for Suicide Prevention (IASP), raises awareness of suicide and advises us on ways in which we can all help towards preventing this tragic event.

This year's theme is 'Creating Hope Through Action', which aims to empower people with the confidence to engage with the complexity of 'hope'.

Rutland County Council's portfolio holder for Health, Wellbeing and Adult Care, Cllr Samantha Harvey, said: "Rutland County Council stands with the International Association for Suicide Prevention. By encouraging understanding, reaching out, and sharing experiences, we want to give people the confidence to support themselves and others. We fully support this annual campaign, and I am confident that together, we can take steps towards putting an end to tragic deaths through suicide."
