Rutland County Museum announce fundraising event to fund home from Rutland Sea Dragon

The Friends of Rutland County Museum have announced they will be holding an event to raise funds to match a recent Heritage Lottery Fund bid.
They hope to match the Lottery funding to enable Rutland County Museum to display the Ichthyosaur found at Rutland Water, known as the Rutland Sea Dragon, and a variety of items found at the Roman Villa excavation near Ketton.
The special fundraising event, which will take place on Friday 3rd October, where well-known expert from BBC's Antiques Roadshow Christopher Payne will be giving a talk.
The talk entitled 'Furnishing the East Midlands – from the spectacular to the Vernacular' will focus on existing lost houses of the East Midlands and the accumulation and dispersal of their treasures.
Doors to the event will open at 6.30pm, with a glass of wine for ticket holders and the chance to explore the museum's exhibit on John Louis Petit's paintings of locations across the East Midlands, before the talk starts at 7.30pm.
Tickets to this event are available online or from the front desk at the Museum.
