Rutland Falconry and Owl Centre on the 'hunt' for volunteers
Rutland Falconry and Owl Centre is in need of reliable and dedicated volunteers to join their team.
Located in Exton, the locally run and owned wildlife sanctuary and rescue centre is home to native and exotic birds, birds of prey, rescued wildlife and big cats.
While some animals at the centre are residents, the team try and release their rescued into the wild, which makes the work at the centre incredibly rewarding.
The team said: "Our wildlife Sanctuary is a wonderful place to volunteer but the work is physical and demanding. You must be absolutely committed and passionate about the welfare of Wildlife.
"We ask that all applicants be able to offer a full day commitment every week. We are unable to offer shorter shift patterns of half days as it leaves us without cover for certain parts of the day.
"Working hours are 10am until 4pm one or more days per week which can be the same day each week or flexible."
As a volunteer at the centre, you will:
- be able to work both independently using initiative and as part of a team.
- be prepared to work outside in all weathers
- carry out a wide variety of tasks from animal husbandry to general cleaning
- attend rescues
The team concluded" "We cannot emphasise enough that the work is not glamorous and involves lots of cleaning and poo!
"If you think you have what it takes to join us then please either send us a message on Facebook or call Chris on 07778 152814
"There are plenty of ways you can donate your skills and time to look after wildlife!"
Please note that the team can't accept applications from anyone under the age of 18.
If you are looking to visit the centre, due to limited wifi, the team only accept cash payments.
