A local family are raising funds to cover the funeral costs of a 'beloved daughter, sister, aunt, nanny and friend' who sadly passed away on New Year's Eve.

Vicky, a Rutland local, worker and mother, passed away on 31 December 2023, leaving her family heartbroken and struggling to cover funeral costs.

Vicky's daughter, Beth, has launched a gofundme page with the hopes of lesseninging the financial burden for her grieving family, asking for support to lay her 'beloved' mother to rest.

Beth said: "I am raising money for my beloved mother who sadly passed away at home on the 31 December 2023.

"We have spoken to the funeral directors and when mum is released from the coroner she will settle in the funeral home. At this point for our family to be able to book her funeral, the funeral home require a deposit of £1000 with the remainder of the balance for the remaining basic package and crematorium fees to be paid seven days after mum has been finally laid to rest. Unfortunately, this is not money myself or my family have to hand immediately.

"We understand that there is a cost of living crisis affecting everyone and any donation received is grately appreciated and we thank you all for your support!

"My mum was a much loved member of the town she grew up in, she was a kind and caring soul.

"Since September mum had been in and out hospital. She suffered from strokes, heart failure and had a pacemaker fitted, kidney problems and pneumonia. She ended up in an induced coma, after what felt like forever she came out of the coma and was happy. She finally recovered, or so we thought, and went home to her mum and dad, where she seemed to be doing okay. Her death was so unexpected that there was no time to arrange costs."

As such, the family would appreciate the support of the local community, no matter how big or small your donation.

Upon Vicky's passing, friends also shared a heart-felt tribute to the 50 year old:

50 years of love, laughter, and selflessness.

Vicky's life in Oakham was filled with hard work, from retail to caring for others. But last Saturday, the town lost a cherished soul.

As we mourn the loss of a beloved daughter, sister, aunt, nanny, and friend, we want to ease the burden on her devastated family. In this time of heartbreak, we're coming together to raise funds for Vicky's journey back to Oakham, where she will rest in the Chapel of Rest.

Her heart of gold will be dearly missed, and any donation, no matter how small, would mean the world to her family. Let's honour Vicky's memory and show our love for her in this difficult time.

If you can support the family, you can donate via the gofundme page here, which has so far raised £430 (at the time of writing).

We at Nub News send our condolences to Vicky's family.
