The team at Rutland Farm Park have welcomed a new arrival to their busy farm, based on Uppingham Road.

Rutland Farm Park is a popular family attraction based on the outskirts of Oakham Town centre.

The team have a range of attractions and animals for their visitors to enjoy, including a café, play park, feeding sessions, alpacas, sheep, pigs, chickens, small animals and horses.

Of these horses, their beloved shire horse, Mr Tom, passed away in 2022 following a series of illnesses. Read more here.

They have since welcomed Lady Bridie to the farm.

Now, another horse has joined their small but loving herd:

Marvin. Image credit: Rutland Farm Park.

The team shared: "Meet our new arrival on the farm who belongs to Farmer Amy. Standing at 16.1, Marvin is an Irish Draught X Cob with beautiful Appaloosa markings, isn't he lovely.

"You will soon be able to watch him being ridden on the farm, so be sure to keep an eye out when you visit us. Marvin loves lots of fuss, but please do not feed him any food. Marvin lives out all year round and thrives off grass and hay, he does not need to be fed anything else. Thank you."

Despite visitors to the farm sharing their sorrow and condolences when Mr Tom passed away, the farmyard team have had to once again remind visitors not to feed the animals.

This comes as they get ready to welcome visitors around the Coronation.

While the attraction will be closed on 6, 7 and 8 May, the team are hosting celebrations throughout May to mark the Coronation of King Charles III.

Lots of renovation work still going on at the farm but our animals are always super happy to see you.

This includes:

  • A Coronation Special on the menu for the whole of may
  • Now serving Ferneleys mini ice cream tubs.
  • Guinea Pig Cuddles everyday at 11am and 3pm (near the big horses - new cuddle corner coming soon)
  • Feed the animals around farm (please do not feed the horses, Guinea pigs or rabbits)
