Rutland Flower Club mark D-Day with floral tributes

To mark the 80th anniversary of the D-Day landings, members of the Rutland Flower Club have placed two poignant floral arrangements in Oakham Library and Oakham Castle. 

"It was a privilege to design and make this arrangement which depicts a British landing craft arriving on Sword Beach and is a tribute to the thousands of brave men who fought for our freedom", said Theresa, a member of the Rutland Flower Club. 

The arrangement in the castle is the Club's horseshoe which is decorated in appropriate colours and flowers.

The arrangements will be on display until the middle of next week.

The club was first formed in May 1960, and is still attracting those with a flare for flowers, horticulture hobbyists and professional florists.

They host monthly meetings, which can be found on the Oakham Nub News What's On page.
