Rutland Foodbank offers home delivery with the help from Old Oakhamian Freemason Lodge to those who struggle to visit in person.

"Not many Foodbanks deliver to homes like me do," said Chair of Trustees at Rutland Foodbank, Ali Wainwright, "but for many of our clients, getting to Oakham several times a week from the villages is just not practical."

The Old Oakhamian Freemason Lodge donated £500 to support Rutland Foodbank this week, with Leicestershire and Rutland Freemason Charity matching the donation, increasing the total to £1,000.

Rutland Foodbank has been running since 2013, having provided 14,000 emergency food parcels to people across the county in that time. Clients are referred to the foodbank by organisations like Citizens Advice Rutland, local schools, churches and by the council.

The foodbank relies on donations from food gifted by local communities, businesses as well as financial donations which help with the daily running of operations, buying fresh and bulk food and essential toiletries. The funds raised by the Old Oakhamians Lodge will help with these vital operations.

The Old Oakhamian Lodge has also just agreed to support the Oakham School Foundation Bursary Fund with the pledge to provide funding of £2,000 spread over 5 years.
