Next week, Oakham Canal will host a 'dance out' from Rutland Morris Men.

On Monday 17 July 2023, the Rutland Morris Men will be dancing at points along the Oakham Canal - an event that is open to spectators from across Rutland and the surrounding area.

Starting at Kimball Close at 7.30pm, the team will stop at appropriate points along the newly refurbished Oakham Canal to dance in full costume, finishing in Ashfield at approximately 8.30pm

Oakham Canal has been spruced up by the volunteers at the Oakham Canal Green Corridor Project (OCGCP), supported by donations from organisations across the county, including the Rutland Morris Men.

As such, the team will be celebrating the new paths, trimmed hedgerows and new gates and bridges with this unique dance event.

The Oakham Canal Green Corridor Project is a registered charity working to preserve and restore the old Oakham Canal in Rutland, UK, in order to "share the economic, environmental, social and leisure opportunities this beautiful waterway offers".

The new Green Corridor will provide around 2.5 miles of footpaths between the Springfield Estate in the south, and the Oakham Enterprise Park in the north, with work so far having taken place on the canal paths between and around Oakham and Langham.

Paul Dadford, Project Manager with the OCGCP, will be providing a talk about the canal for the Morris Men in thanks for their donation to the Oakham Canal Green Corridor Project last year.
