Rutland MP Alicia Kearns attacked the protest group Extinction Rebellion following the environmental group's latest actions.
The MP, a member of the Conservative Environment Network Parliamentary Caucus, put her name to a letter that 45 members of the group sent to the Daily Telegraph.
In it, they said they condemned the actions of Extinction Rebellion for undermining press freedom, imposing huge economic costs and disrupting the lifesaving work of our emergency services.
The letter (attached) also praised government policies on the environment and said that to deliver policies to tackle climate change, you need to "bring everyone with us."
It also said the MPs would work within parliament to deliver "more ambitious climate action, where further measures are needed such as greening home heating and improving public transport."
In recent days, Extinction Rebellion has carried out a range of protests around the country. Their latest demonstrations include a topless protest yesterday and defacing the statue of Winston Churchill in Westminster.
Last year, the protest group also staged protests in Stamford and in January 2020 gave a talk in Oakham on 'Heading to Extinction.'
