Rutland saw success last week as A-Level students came out on top, receiving the highest percentage of A - A* grades in England despite schools and colleges voicing concerns about the interruptions to education caused by the pandemic.
On Thursday the 18th of August 2022, A-Level results were released and, despite average results dropping across the UK, 53.6 per cent of results awarded were an A or A* for Rutland students. This compares to a England average of 35.6 per cent.
In England, Wales and Northern Ireland, 14.6 per cent of entries received an A*. This is down from nearly 19.1 per cent in 2021.
The overall pass rate (grades A* to E) was 98.4 per cent, which is down from 99.5 per cent in 2021.
It has been anticipated that up to 40 per cent of students across the England, Wales and Northern Ireland will be applying to their preferred universities via the Clearing system after the overall drop in high results.
GCSE results are set to be announced on on Thursday the 25th of August 2022.
Good luck all.
