Health leaders in Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland (LLR) are inviting local people to comment on their consultation to improve same-day healthcare services in Rutland. 

The consultation, which will run between 13th January and 16th March 2025,  will give residents an opportunity to give their opinion on new proposals put forward by LLR. 

The new proposals put forward aim to improve health services for local people by improving access to same-day services and increasing the availability of out of hours care while GP practices are closed. The proposal hopes to bring together the Minor Injuries Unit and Urgent Care Centre to create a Minor Illness and Injury Service which would be open seven days a week in Rutland Memorial Hospital. 

Dr James Burden, local GP and Rutland Clinical Place Lead for the Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland Integrated Care Board (LLR ICB) said: "We are pleased to have developed proposals for improvements to services in Rutland which reflect what local residents have told us. It's important that, as our population continues to grow and patient needs evolve, our healthcare services are also better aligned to provide local people with access to the right services, in the right place, at the right time.

"As part of the new proposals we will be looking to provide services from one place, with a consistent way of booking appointments and easy to remember opening times. As well as improving the quality of care, it would also mean that patients will be able to have a better experience in modernised facilities."
