A restaurant located in the heart of Rutland has made the list of Britain's Best Local Restaurants in the Good Food Guide.

Hitchen's Barn in Oakham has made it into the Good Food Guide's list of Britain's 100 Best Local Restaurants.

Have already been recognised by the Michelin Guide for the last four years, Hitchen's Barn has added another feather to its proverbial cap as it is included in the Good Food Guide's top 100 Local Restaurants in Britain list.

Owners, Neil and Louise Hitchen, met whilst both working at Hambleton Hall back in the 1990's, and spent the last 20 years of their lives working around the world in luxury Relais and Chateaux hotels and restaurants.

In 2010 they transformed The Berkeley Arms in Wymondham into a highly successful pub restaurant, where they retained a Michelin Bib Gourmand for eight years.

In January 2019, they launched their own restaurant, Hitchen's Barn, at 12 Burley Road, Oakham.

Every year the restaurant has been included in Hardens Guide, as well as winning a 2 Rosette Award for Culinary Excellence in 2022 and 2023 from the AA Guide.

From 2020 until 2023, the Oakham-based eatery has also been recognised with the prestigious Michelin Bib Gourmand.

Serving modern British cuisine sourced locally, Hitchen's Barn is a popular spot with locals and tourists alike - although bookings are a must, as this rural, seasonal restaurant gets booked up fast.
