The search is on to find an 'Independent chair' to handle healthcare for Leicestershire and Rutland.

The part-time job is with the Leicester City, Leicestershire and Rutland Clinical Commission Groups and pays a pro-rata salary of £55,000 a year.

The appointment comes as the region faces the prospect of controversial changes, as previously reported by Nub News.

The job advertisement said: "Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland Integrated Care System is a partnership of NHS providers, NHS commissioners, local authorities and VCFS stakeholders working together to improve services and help over a million people in Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland live longer, healthier lives.

"The aims of the partnership are to join up health and care services, to listen to the priorities of our communities and to tackle some of the biggest challenges we are all facing – improving the health and well-being of the population, the quality of care they receive, and the effectiveness with which partners spend tax-payers' money on their behalf.

"We are recruiting for the role as the Independent Chair of the partnership to support the next stage in our evolution, enabling and galvanising the work of system leaders to maximise the benefits of collaborative working, shared decision making and effective governance.

"The post will include leadership of the work of the following forums: System Executive Group and NHS Executive Group

It added: "You will be a proven leader with a commitment to and understanding of the health and care sector and a passion for delivering the aims and vision of the Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland Integrated Care System.

"You will have significant experience of leading work in a collective decision-making group such as a board, governing body or committee. You will also have a track record in securing or supporting improvement for patients, citizens or the wider public."
